Fasnacloich is situated in a quiet but accessible glen close to the sea, the scene of several dramatic events upon which Robert Louis Stevenson based his book ‘Kidnapped’. It enjoys all the benefits of remoteness and solitude expected of a highland property while being within easy reach of the attractive town of Oban, which provides first class shopping facilities.

Fasnacloich House is furnished to a high standard providing comfortable accommodation ideal for a family holiday. Terraced lawns surround the house leading to the Fasnacloich Loch. In front of the house is a boathouse and stone jetty.

Azaleas, rhododendrons and daffodils are a riot of colour in the spring, and banks of mature trees including oak, beech, eucalyptus and cedar create shelter. The local village of Port Appin has a convenient shop, a hotel, seafood restaurant and pub.

Fishing and red/roe stalking may be available on request. Local activities include sailing and water-skiing. Nearby Glencoe offers winter skiing and the surrounding mountains have excellent hill walking and mountaineering.

Links with the south by road are excellent. Glasgow and its international airport can be reached within two hours by car by way of Glencoe, Crianlarich and Loch Lomond.

Fasnacloich is one of our first houses to install an Electric Vehicle Charging Point!

Dogs
A maximum of 2 well behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement only. There is a charge of £30 per dog per week.
Dogs must be kept on the ground floor and are not allowed on furniture or carpeted areas and not be left unattended at any time unless in a crate. Any dog fouling in and around the house grounds must be cleared without delay.
Outdoor kennels are also available.

Accommodation

Ground Floor
Drawing room, dining room, conservatory, kitchen, family room, utility room, cloakroom with 2 wcs.

A maximum of 10 persons may stay in the house.

There is separate cook’s room which has its own en suite facilities.
It should be noted that the double bedroom on the second floor is strictly only for use as staff accommodation.

House Details:
Open fires, oil/gas fired central heating, gas fired Aga, combination/microwave oven, dishwashers, automatic washing machines, tumble dryers, fridges, tv.

Linen and towels are provided and two hours of daily domestic assistance is included in the rental. Additional help can be arranged.

Weekly rentals run from Saturday to Saturday at Fasnacloich.

Fishing
Fishing for salmon, sea trout and brown Trout may be available to rent during the season from 1st March to 30th September upon request.

The Fishing Rights include fishing on the loch in front of the house. The loch may only be fished by a maximum of two rods from the boat provided. There is an aluminium rowing boat kept at the Boathouse on the Loch.

Stalking
Roe and Red Deer stalking on the Estate may be available with the house.

Activities

The Loch
Loch Bhaile Mhic Chailein (or Fasnacloich Loch) covers about 39 acres. There is a stone jetty and boathouse in front of the house.

Locally, activities on offer include sailing and water skiing with many beaches and islands to visit. In season, there is skiing at Glencoe and Aonach Mhor. There is also some excellent hill walking and mountaineering in Glencoe and the surrounding mountains.

Half an hour’s drive from Oban.
