Sporting

The Sport

Stalking
Tulchan of Glenisla is a superb sporting estate, extending to around 15,000 acres of spectacular rugged Highland scenery and offers some first class deer stalking for up to two rifles. The estate occupies a marvellous situation at the top of Glenisla and marches with other well known estates including Invercauld to the west and north, and Airlie & Glenisla to the east and south. Tulchan is principally a deer forest with the prime stalking ground known as Caenlochan. For its size, Caenlochan is probably one of the most prolific deer forests in Scotland. Kenneth Whitehead in his Encyclopedia of Deer, lists 13 deer forests in Scotland with a cull over 100 stags. Of these Caenlochan is the smallest in area.

Walked-up grouse
In addition to the stalking, the estate offers walked-up grouse shooting on the lower hills to the south end of the estate together with ptarmigan shooting on the high ground, which rises to around 3500 ft. The views from the high ground are magnificent!

Driven partridge
In 2011 Tulchan Estate introduced red legged partridge which now gives guests the chance to enjoy some driven days from the beginning of September. Bags of 100 – 150 bird days are achieved early on in the season.
