Originally dating from 1703 this listed stone house lay unloved and empty for a number of years, until the current owners rescued it in 2012 and began the huge task of restoration.
The mix of antiques and new design reflects this balance. There is wifi throughout, a Sonos music system and power showers in all the bathrooms.
The ground floor is where the magnificent sun room is located with glass on three sides. It is the ideal place to enjoy the stunning garden view. This room benefits from a wonderful fireplace with chairs and sofas you can sink into. The dining table seats ten making this the hub of the house.
There is a sleek and professional standard kitchen with breakfast bar and all the modern appliances you would expect. The fridge is always stocked with the essentials such as bread, milk and soft drinks, and you’ll find plenty of ice and fresh fruit to snack on. A cosy den with large TV is the perfect hideaway and upstairs is a beautiful drawing room with working fireplace and cleverly hidden wall-mounted TV.
The five bedrooms (three doubles, two twins) are on the first and second floors and all have en-suite bath or shower rooms. Furnished with gorgeous drapes and pure cotton bed linen, every room comes with little hotel touches, plenty of soft towels, bathrobes and slippers, and Arran Aromatics toiletries in the under-floor-heated bathrooms.
The Old Millhouse offers secluded 5 star luxury accommodation for up to 10 people and can be hired on an exclusive use basis for weekends or by the week. It is located within easy reach of Edinburgh Airport and the city centre.
