The lodge was built in the early 1800’s and has eight bedrooms and four bathrooms, sleeping up to 16 guests. The lodge occupies a delightful and secluded position and stands in grounds of approximately 20 acres. The property is accessed via a private 1.5 mile unmade estate road and is situated approximately 4 miles from Kingussie.
Built in the early 1800s the lodge has been lovingly restored as a family home by the Craigie Halkett family, but it retains many of its original features including some working open fires, huge roll top baths and traditional decoration.
Large kitchen/breakfast room with a long table that seats 12/14 comfortably, which is ideal for entertaining. Well equipped with double range cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, double fridge freezers, and all other appliances. .
Accommodation
The house sleeps 16 guests in 4 double rooms, 3 twin rooms and 2 single rooms. There are 4 bathrooms with original deep roll top baths and a further WC downstairs. The kitchen is well equipped for 16 guests with a double electric range cooker, large dishwasher, coffee machine, fridge freezer, food mixer, microwave and toaster. The lodge has a large laundry room with washing machine and plenty of hanging space for wet coats, boots etc plus a second large fridge freezer.

Morning room – Cosy morning room with open fire. TV/SKY and wi-fi.
Verandah/Rod Room – leading out to the covered verandah.
Traditional wood panelled verandah room at the side of the house opens out onto the BBQ and picnic area with wonderful views across the grounds.
Activities
Kingussie is 4 miles away, this has shops, cafes, restaurants, a co-op and local supermarket. There is a pharmacy, doctor and dentist. Kingussie train station offers direct access to Edinburgh and Inverness.
For good local eating, the famous restaurant in Kingussie is ‘The Cross‘, a highly awarded and widely recognised place to dine. There is also a local Indian and Chinese and a very good fish and chip shop.
Golf courses at Kingussie and Boat of Garten.
Loch Inch offers a watersports centre with canoe, kayak and bicycle hire, plus numerous sailing lessons and activities etc. Near Loch Morlich there are numerous walks and cycle paths, both tarmac and off road.
Highland Wildlife Park a fun day out for the whole family.
Approx 30 minutes away is the famous Landmark Centre – a fabulous adventure park and outdoor centre with an aerial tree walk and activity area.
Also not far from Rothiemurchus is the famous Strathspey Steam Railway
Rothiemurchus Estate is approx 12 miles away and offers a range of outdoor activity including 4×4 driving, archery, mountain and quad biking, tennis, a high wire tree zone, fishing, canoeing, gorge walking, rafting and kayaking, tubing, clay pigeon shooting, walking and photography.
Aviemore for skiing and shopping is 18 miles away. The ski school, lifts and town are here. There is a large Tescos, banks, pharmacies, clothing shops, teashops and restaurants here.
The famous House of Bruar shopping experience is only 45 minutes away.
For walkers and nature lovers
There are many walks straight from the lodge, from just a short stroll to a day’s hike or more. The lodge lies within travelling distance to a number of Munros and the 10 mile glen road offers some great biking and links to some of the mapped cycle paths.
The grounds around the lodge are rich in ancient flora and fauna including fungi, orchids and daffodils.
The Cairngorms National Park is a Designated Dark Skies Location.
