Situated on a private estate on the shores of the Firth of Forth Green Craig enjoys uninterrupted views over the sea to Edinburgh and Fife beyond.  Built in 1923 for the family of the Earl of Wemyss, Green Craig lies minutes from Gullane and is just 15 miles east of Edinburgh.  Perfect for golfing and family holidays.

East Lothian is a golfer’s paradise with 19 courses within a 20 minute drive offering a mix of traditional links and classic inland courses, including the famous Muirfield links, Gullane, Luffness, Kilspindie and Craigielaw.

After a day on the golf course come back to sit in the outside hot tub with panoramic views out over the water!

Green Craig overlooks one of the area’s best wildlife beaches – Aberlady Nature Reserve – where guests can watch seals sunbathing on the sandbanks from the house.

A great base from which to explore the beautiful surroundings of East Lothian, Edinburgh and the lovely Scottish Borders. For those wishing to explore, the surrounding area has plenty of other activities – fishing, horse riding, kite boarding, hill walking, and sand yachting are all within easy reach of the house – as well as 40 miles of stunning coastline, sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs and lush rolling hills to climb.

A short drive will take guests to study the form at Musselburgh horse racing course, or you can sample whisky at the Glenkinchie Distillery. Only a few miles away is the Museum of Flight, home to retired airliner Concorde, now open to the public. On the doorstep of this unique holiday home, Gosford House can accommodate open days where guests can view the private art collection or tour the splendid grounds. The house is also amazingly convenient to Edinburgh with the capital’s cultural offerings only 35 minutes away.

If you want to eat out there are fabulous restaurants scattered throughout East Lothian, although the house does offer the services of a chef for that special occasion supper, or for those who would simply prefer someone else do the cooking! And after the activity of your choice, guests will love to take it easy and make the most of the stunning views and terraces that survey the Firth of Forth and surrounding gardens.

Cottage
There is a small cottage to the rear of the property which could accommodate additional guests or staff. The cottage can be accessed on one level and has a shower room and one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. This can be rented in conjunction with the main house for an additional charge of £125 per night.

Dogs
Well behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. There is a £20 charge per dog.

We say...

Green Craig is the perfect place to unwind and recharge, play golf or sightsee.

You say...

It was so lovely – the house was great, very clean and super-well equipped. And the location was stunning – even better than in the photographs. We had a wonderful time – thank you so much.

Thank you Dorcas – yourself and Natalie were a pleasure to deal with.

Accommodation

Green Craig offers comfortable and spacious accommodation for up to 12 people.

Downstairs, the sitting room with log fire is perfect to unwind in. A door leads to a terrace from where the sunset and views stretch over Gosford Bay to Edinburgh and beyond.

The panelled dining room enjoys views over the terrace and gardens. The dining table can seat 12 comfortably, or guests could set up the room for 30 guests for a special occasion or business event.

Also on the ground floor is the gallery, a peaceful space for reading the morning newspapers and catching up with the outside world.

For ample storage for golf bags or any other sporting equipment, the locker room is also located on ground level. Practice balls and croquet equipment are kept here so guests can enjoy a game.

Make use of the outside hot tub with panoramic views out over the water!

Bedrooms

There are six bedrooms which can be made up into double or twin rooms as required. All have sea views.

The largest bedroom has views over the sea, the eighth green at Kilspindie and the gardens, and comes with a separate dressing room and ample closet space.

Bedroom two, a restful room decorated in the French style, has views over the sea to Fife. This room has both a free-standing shower and bath.

Bedroom three, generously sized with a built in closet and day bed, has an uninterrupted view of the water that stretches for some 20 miles out to the Forth Bridges.

The fourth and smallest of the sleeping areas looks out towards Edinburgh and beyond and has an en suite bathroom that is affectionately known as ‘the loo with the view’!

In bedroom five, Arthur’s Seat is visible from its large windows and this spacious sun-filled room has a daybed, walk in closet and luggage storage. The bathroom has a shower but no bath.

The sixth bedroom overlooks the gardens and the bay towards the gate houses for Gosford House. Decorated in a stunning blue Nina Campbell toile, this room comes with bathroom containing spa bath and overhead shower.

Downstairs there is an additional twin bedroom.  Please note that it does not have a dedicated bathroom and would need to share with one of the upstairs bedrooms.
