Firthside House is a Scottish baronial mansion house dating back to 1885, former home of the fifth Baron Thurlow, Paymaster-General under Prime Minister Gladstone in 1886.
Guests feel instantly at home in the welcoming reception rooms and luxuriously comfortable bedrooms. The unrivalled location of Firthside House offers idyllic peace and privacy whilst being only minutes away from cafes, whisky distilleries and the world class courses of the Nairn and Castle Stuart Golf Courses. Stroll the seafront promenade into town or walk barefoot on the beach, an ideal location for families, gatherings of friends, golfers, and corporate groups.
Surrounded by three acres of grounds, including a private walled garden, terrace, and large lawns, and breath taking views out over the North Sea, this Highland property embodies the very best of coastal living.
The house provides luxurious and spacious accommodation, with stunning sea views over the Moray Firth. Newly renovated, the property provides 9 well-appointed bedrooms (double or twin), offering accommodation for up to 18 guests. Guests can enjoy social gatherings in the drawing room, dining room, billiard room, bar and conservatory. All bedrooms have en-suite or private bathrooms with wonderfully comfortable beds.
To ensure you have a very relaxing and comfortable stay, Firthside includes in-house staff.
Firthside is a five minute walk to local restaurants, and the famous Nairn Golf Club. Nairn Dunbar Golf Club is nearby. The sights of Cawdor Castle, the Battlefield of Culloden and Fort George, are only 10-20 minutes by car.
For a convenient arrival and departure, Inverness International airport is 5 miles away.

Reception Rooms:
The bright Drawing Room is the perfect place to unwind, sit back and enjoy the warmth of the open fireplace.
The Dining Room provides cosy and comfortable seating for groups small or large – the dining table easily accommodates 18 guests.
The Kitchen is modern, bright, and spacious; making it a very pleasant place to prepare meals and/or to host a large dinner party. The kitchen provides everything you need to create delicious dishes.
Guests can enjoy a game of snooker in the Billiard Room, the table is perfect for beginners and pros alike! Firthside also has a well-stocked Bar, another great space to unwind and relax with family and friends.
The Boot Room. A fantastic mix of modern and traditional, the boot room provides storage for all outdoor gear – golf clothing and shoes, fishing gear and wellies.
Bedrooms:
Thurlow – Thurlow boasts an en-suite and subtly warm colour palette, named after the former owner, Lord Thurlow. Thurlow offers stunning sea views from the corner turret seating area and three windows.
Ross – Inspired by the original architect of the House Alexander Ross, this spacious double bedroom features wrap around views of the mature garden and the Moray Firth. It’s curated antique features and floral theme give this room timeless charm. Ross features a stylish en-suite.
Finlay – A calm and luxurious double bedroom with dedicated shower/bathroom, original feature tiling and characterful pattern wallpaper. Named after Robert Finlay, the founding member, and former Captain of the Nairn Golf Club.
Moray – Named after its spectacular view over the Moray Firth, this double bedroom with beautiful en-suite, boasts some of the best vistas over the water and to the hills beyond.
Albert – A spacious and adaptable room which can be tailored to your requirements, as a double or twin. Albert has a dedicated bathroom featuring a shower and bath, large windows, and particularly unique original tiled fireplace. A nod to the street name on which one side of Firthside House is located.
Sylvestris – Inspired by the forest and the Latin word for the Scots Pine. This room boasts unique original tiles and beautiful wallpaper. Guests have a dedicated bathroom just across the hall.
Findhorn – A large double bedroom with views of the mature pines and southern garden. Findhorn has a classic style, antique furniture, and a dedicated bathroom, with the choice of a shower or bath. Findhorn Bay is nearby and boasts magnificent beaches and a delightful harbour.
Gladstone – With striking signature wallpaper and cosy lighting, Gladstone is a particularly characterful double bedroom. Gladstone benefits from its own shower/bathroom. William Ewart Gladstone was prime minister under which Baron Thurlow served as Paymaster General.
Black Isle – An easily accessible bedroom on the ground floor of the house. Black Isle features an en-suite shower/wet-room, all in a relaxing interior style and colour palette. The Black-Isle is a stunning peninsular that can be seen from Firthside House across the Moray Firth.
