Enjoy boat trips on Glen Etive and fishing for mackerel, guided hill walking, clay pigeon shooting, stalking, salmon fishing on the River Etive etc. Rental includes your own chef and housekeeper. Dalness Estate is a 13,000 acre traditional sporting estate set amongst some of the most dramatic scenery in the Scottish Highlands.
Dalness Lodge is situated in a dramatic setting on the 13,000 acre Dalness Estate in Glen Etive, and is set amongst some of the most spectacular scenery in the Scottish Highlands.
The Lodge was recently renovated to an exceptionally high standard and can accommodate up to 15 guests in 7 bedrooms; all with en-suite or private bathrooms. It is a wonderful year-round venue for family gatherings or special occasions. Dalness is an ideal place to escape for long weekends or a seasonal break to enjoy walking, climbing one of the many Munros on the doorstep, or skiing at the nearby Glencoe Mountain Resort.
Lots of fun to be had on the little Orkney fishing boat on Loch Etive with its stunning scenery which also has a fish finder. Drop a crab line over the side or use a rod and hopefully catch lots of mackerel for dinner!
Salmon and brown trout fishing on the River Etive (spate river) is included. The beat is around 2 miles and has around 20 pools. The majority of the fishing is single right hand bank with double bank fishing opposite the lodge, taking in one of the most productive pools.
Red deer stalking and clay pigeon shooting are also available at Dalness.
As an alternative to the traditional sporting activities, Dalness can also arrange for guided hillwalking, loch kayaking, tutored photography and chauffeur tours.
The Lodge is 17 miles away from Glencoe and 32 miles from Fort William. Glasgow Airport is less than two hours away. Alternatively the overnight-sleeper train services Bridge of Orchy – a scenic 30 minute drive from the Lodge.
2025 Rates:
£13,000.00 per week
Cook and housekeeping included in the rental. Food receipts paid directly to the estate.
Activities Included:
Sea-fishing on Loch Etive and freshwater angling supported by estate ghillie.
Salmon fishing on the River Etive (spate).
One Clay Pigeon shooting event included per weekly rental.
Additional clay pigeon shooting costs for clays and cartridges payable directly to the estate.
Use of estate bicycles and supported low level hill walking.
Stalking on Dalness (2025):
Supported stalking with ghillie, transport and experienced stalker.
Stag – £720.00 inc VAT per stag. Unsuccessful blank day – £240.00 inc VAT
Hinds – £420.00 inc VAT per day. Unsuccessful blank day – £180.00 inc VAT
Stag stalking from mid September through to 20 October.
Salmon fishing available 6th June to 5th October.
There are many activities and experiences available locally such as guided hill walking, watersports, whisky distillery visits, Highland Piper, etc and Dalness will offer advice and guidance on suitability and booking contacts for you to arrange directly and pay directly.
Dogs
Well trained dogs are welcome by prior arrangement only. During the day dogs may be admitted to the Lodge only under strict supervision. They must be kept overnight in the purpose built secure night kennels adjacent to the Lodge.
Accommodation
Dalness Lodge can comfortably accommodate parties of up to 15 guests over 7 bedrooms. Split over the first and second floors, all seven bedrooms are spacious and benefit from high-end furnishings; including king-sized double or over-sized single beds, with Egyptian cotton bedding. Every bedroom at Dalness also has a modern en-suite or dedicated private bathroom; with either a walk-in overhead rain-shower or a deep soaking bath – or in some cases both.
The ground floor living accommodation comprises a relaxed lounge area, formal drawing room and modern kitchen; each having an open fire. The spacious dining room can comfortably seat 15, and has spectacular views of Glen Etive.
The open plan second floor contains the comfortable Games room, offering an extensive library of books and DVD’s, large screen for ‘film nights’ in, electric piano, card table and traditional board games.
There is underfloor heating throughout the Lodge, along with a large well-equipped laundry and drying room for all your wet-weather gear.

Whether you require a formal four-course dinner, a serve it yourself home cooked fish pie or a buffet; the chef will liaise with you to tailor a bespoke menu to suit a budget that works for your party.

Dalness has an Orkney Lobster Potting Boat for sea fishing excursions on Loch Etive, a 26 mile long sea Loch, which decants into the open sea at Connel Bridge. Guests will be taken by the estate ghillie.

Walking and Climbing
Dalness is set amongst stunning scenery and a popular area for outdoor pursuits. A range of walks can be taken directly from the Lodge, whether you wish to climb a Munro or take a more leisurely stroll along the river looking out for the wildlife.
Chaperoned / guided walks and scrambles can be arranged by the estate.
Kayaking
Dalness can arrange for a professional kayaking instructor to accompany your guests on a loch expedition, either on Loch Etive, or one of the many surrounding sea and in-land lochs. There would be an additional cost for this.
Skiing and Mountain Biking
At the top of the glen (6 miles) is the Glencoe Mountain Resort. The centre is open for 12 months of the year; with skiing in the winter and mountain bikes for hire in the summer.
Photography / Painting
Dalness can arrange for you to learn, on location, the secrets of professional landscape photography and how to capture the classic shots of Scotland’s top photographic location. Alternatively, for those who prefer capturing the scenery on canvas; Dalness offers a plentiful supply of landscape scenery and accessible wildlife. There would be an additional cost for this.
Local Area
Fort William and Oban are within driving distance of the Lodge; with their numerous restaurants, shops, horse-riding, golfing and boat trips to the Scottish Western Isles.

Dalness Estate offers salmon fishing on the River Etive which is a spate river. The estate beat is approximately 2 miles in length with around 20 pools. The majority of the fishing is single, right hand bank with double bank fishing opposite the Lodge, taking in one of the most productive pools. There is also the opportunity for sea fishing on Loch Etive from the estate motor boats.
Stalking
Dependent upon availability, during the season red deer stalking is carried out in the traditional way amongst dramatic scenery. One party per day.
Stag stalking from mid September through to 20 October.
