Dalnaglar Castle is set upon a naturally elevated site in the heart of Glenshee, which translates as ‘The Valley of Peace’ and is known locally as ‘the fairy glen’. Originally an 18th century hunting lodge, Dalnaglar Castle was commissioned by Lord Clyde, Queen Victoria’s banker, and designed by Her Majesty’s architect from Balmoral.

Public rooms include a comfortable sitting room, well stocked library, elegant dining room over-looking the garden and a reception room, all with their own fireplaces. Guests have exclusive use of the castle and grounds.
The estate is situated on the banks of the River Shee and has a beat just under a mile offering excellent salmon and trout fishing. There is also trout fishing on our private Loch. A ghillie is available upon request.
