Portraiture
Following the success of last year’s Cavens Painting School with professional artist Flora Blackett, another school will be held this year. Having studied portraiture in Florence, local girl Flora is now mainly based in London and exhibits nationally and internationally. Past commissions have including H.R.H Princess Michael of Kent. Focussing on portraiture, painting and drawing, classes will be held in Flora’s summer studio just a short drive or a pleasant walk from Cavens. Flora takes a maximum of 5 students. Price on Application.
Strictly for the Birds –
The Red Kite breeding programme has been one of Galloway’s great success stories and these are just some of the magnificent birds you can see on this unique bird-watching weekend. Ornithologists flock from all over the country to spot the abundant birdlife in this district, and November is a particularly good time to watch all manner of waders and wildfowl in the important reserves on the Solway Coast. This will be the third year that Cavens and the RSPB have joined forces to offer guests a break that combines all of the comfort you’d expect from a luxury hotel with expert, ranger-led excursions to reserves and sanctuaries througout the region. Price on Application.
