There is lots to do and see in the local area including the most famous loch in the world, Loch Ness!
The charming village of Fort Augustus is just 8 miles away and is worth a visit. The main attraction is watching the boats come through Locks on the Caledonian Canal before entering Loch Ness. There are several pubs and places to eat including the The Lovat Arms Hotel.
Closeby in the small hamlet of Whitebridge, just 2.5 miles, the Whitebridge Hotel offers very good bar meals and has a good atmosphere. A good place to meet some of the locals! The Dores Inn, which is situated at Dores, provides very good meals and is situated right on the shores of Loch Ness, on the way to Inverness.
There are wonderful walks nearby and Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Scotland is only 45 minutes drive away at Fort William, along with a number of other accessible munros. Take a drive along the Great Glen passing by Loch Oich and Loch Lochy to Loch Linnhe where it enters the sea on the west coast, is worth a trip.
The west coast including the Isle of Skye, Plockton, Kyle of Lochalsh, Mallaig are all accessible by car and within 1.5 – 2 hours drive.
