Brachkashie Cottage sits on the edge of Loch Knockie in a stunningly beautiful, tranquil setting. There are incredible views over the loch and the property has the benefit of its own jetty, rowing boat and fishing rights for wild brown trout during the season.

Brachkashie has been completely refurbished to a high standard, with Edwardian style beds and top of the range appliances plus a cosy wood burning stove. The cottage stands in two and a half acres of private grounds. Brachkashie was featured in the October 2015 issue of Country Homes and Interiors magazine.

Accommodation

Walk through the front door and down the stairs into the main reception area and you will be taken into another world!  You are immediately taken aback by the panoramic view of Loch Knockie and the hills beyond. One of our regular guests described it as the best view in Scotland!

Openplan Sitting Room
There is an open plan sitting area with wood burning stove and magnificent views across Loch Knockie. Double french doors lead to the spacious decking area.

Kitchen/Breakfast area
The kitchen features a Rangemaster cooker plus a new fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There is a Nespresso machine and milk frother, plus new cooking knives, 4 slice toaster and kettle all on lovely black granite worktops. There is one refrigerator in the kitchen and a second large refrigerator/freezer in the Laundry/Utility Room.

Utility Room
Fully fitted with new washing machine, tumble dryer and a second, large fridge/freezer. There is plenty of hanging space for coats plus a boot rack. There are storage cupboards and an additional sink.

Bedrooms
There are three bedrooms comprising:
Master Bedroom with Edwardian style beds which are pushed together to make a double.
Bedroom 2 with Edwardian style beds made up as two singles (can be pushed together).
Bedroom 3 is a single bedroom.

There is a travel cot.
Hair dryers in each bedroom.

Additional Information

Outside
The cottage features a stunning deck with large picnic table and with steps leading down to the loch. The property includes use of a rowing boat and floatation aids. Loch Knockie is incredibly tranquil with very few, if any, boats joining you!

Cleaning/towels/linen
Included are luxurious towels and linen. For rentals over one week, fresh towels and linen can be arranged.
There is Satellite Wifi in the cottage.

Sporting

Trout fishing
Wild brown trout fishing is available during the season (fly only) on Loch Knockie. The fishing is included in the rental.

Stalking
Red deer stalking during the main stalking season September/October can be arranged, subject to availability on several nearby estates. Hind stalking in November, December and January can also be arranged.

Salmon fishing
Salmon fishing can be arranged on the nearby River Findhorn, River Oich and River Ness.

Golf
Fort Augustus, just 8 miles away has an 18 hole course which runs alongside the Caledonian Canal. The new and wonderful Championship links course of Castle Stuart is only an hour’s drive from Brachkashie.

Activities

There is lots to do and see in the local area including the most famous loch in the world, Loch Ness!

The charming village of Fort Augustus is just 8 miles away and is worth a visit. The main attraction is watching the boats come through Locks on the Caledonian Canal before entering Loch Ness. There are several pubs and places to eat including the The Lovat Arms Hotel.

Closeby in the small hamlet of Whitebridge, just 2.5 miles, the Whitebridge Hotel offers very good bar meals and has a good atmosphere. A good place to meet some of the locals! The Dores Inn, which is situated at Dores, provides very good meals and is situated right on the shores of Loch Ness, on the way to Inverness.

There are wonderful walks nearby and Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Scotland is only 45 minutes drive away at Fort William, along with a number of other accessible munros. Take a drive along the Great Glen passing by Loch Oich and Loch Lochy to Loch Linnhe where it enters the sea on the west coast, is worth a trip.

The west coast including the Isle of Skye, Plockton, Kyle of Lochalsh, Mallaig are all accessible by car and within 1.5 – 2 hours drive.
