Benmore Lodge

Benmore Estate, Isle of Mull

Sleeps 10 / from £4,500 for a 3 night self-catered rental

Benmore Lodge offers the perfect balance of luxury and space. Located in an idyllic and secluded position on the banks of Loch Ba on the Isle of Mull, Benmore has been sympathetically restored and reimagined to create a beautiful and elegant house with accommodation for up to 10 guests.

Perfect for a family adventure in the great outdoors, or simply a “digital detox” and an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, the visit is yours to shape.

Situated at the heart of the Island of Mull, the 32,000 acre Benmore Estate offers some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery. Miles of unspoilt coastline and white sandy beaches stretch out to welcome you to the island, surrounded by towering mountains, deep glens and glittering lochs.

Benmore Lodge has several living areas, perfect for the whole family to enjoy together. The intimate sitting room with wood burning stove and TV offers views across the lawns to Loch Ba and beyond. At the heart of the house is the large and well-equipped family kitchen, with its bespoke picture window, and offers an informal dining table and breakfast bar. In the evening, the dining room complete with a wood burning stove and dining table comfortably seats a dining party of 10, before you head through to the beautifully appointed drawing room to relax after dinner.

The fenced garden is equipped with picnic tables and benches for outdoor eating in the most captivating landscape.

We are also delighted to offer salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing during the fishing season (May to October) as an optional extra. Loch Ba is the second largest loch on the Mull and has, in recent years, shown good stocks of Atlantic Salmon and Sea Trout. To arrange for a fishing permit throughout your stay please don’t hesitate to contact us.

The central location of Benmore Lodge lends itself to some of the best Island experiences including hiking, paddle boarding, fishing, kayaking, stalking, visiting Iona and discovering Staffa and the Treshnish Isles, whisky tours in Tobermory, Ardnamuchan and Drimnin Distilleries and exploring the sweeping bays, white sandy beaches, dramatic sea cliffs and amazing wildlife around the 300 miles of Mull’s spectacular coastline.

Benmore’s most famous residents are arguably its huge range of wildlife. With patience, and perhaps a pair of binoculars, you might catch sight of just some of the inhabitants; golden or sea eagles; mountain hares; and red deer. They are part of everyday life and are more easily spotted here than on the mainland.

And that’s just a few of the land-dwellers – look to the coast and its surrounding waters and spot otters, grey seals, puffins, basking sharks and whales. More than enough to satisfy even the most adventurous explorer.
