Auchterarder House is a wonderful example of an original Arts & Crafts property brought into the 21st Century. Set amidst 20 acres of beautiful mature gardens, with views towards the Cairngorm and Grampian mountains, the house has kept its unique character, including parquet floors and original hand-crafted wooden panelling, whilst welcoming guests with modern-day creature comforts.
Perfect for a special weekend celebration with family, a corporate retreat, or for golfers wanting to base themselves at the centre of the best Golf Courses in Scotland.
The house is just a stone’s throw from Auchterarder and offers golf enthusiasts the opportunity to play some of the best golf courses in the world including the famous Gleneagles Hotel and Country Club, the only European Golf Resort to have hosted both the Ryder and Solheim Cup. Ideally placed to play other major Scottish Championship Courses such as Muirfield, Carnoustie, Troon, Castle Stuart and The Old Course at St Andrews.
Built in 1887 by James Reid, the Glasgow locomotive builder, as a weekend and summer home for his family it has since seen school girls evacuated from cities during the Second World War, and past US Presidents and World Leaders, including Ronald Reagan, stay when it was, for a short while, a small boutique hotel. If only walls could talk!
Guests have the full use of the indoor cinema, gym and sauna as well as a wonderfully appointed dining room, drawing room, reception hall and library. There is also a stunning Victorian Orangery perfect for summer drinks receptions overlooking the beautiful gardens and private lochan stocked with trout for guests to fish, complete with rowing boat!
The house has 10 well appointed en-suite bedrooms, including one on the ground level, suitable for guests with mobility issues, providing accommodation for up to 20 guests in supreme comfort.
Within an hour of Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports, and a short commute to the historic cities of Perth and Stirling, Auchterarder House is an experience not to be missed. A true country house where guests can enjoy a “dram” beside a roaring fire, sample the best locally sourced ingredients by their in-house chefs, and enjoy the views of both the Grampian Mountains and the Cairngorms.
