Rottal Estate is situated in Glen Clova, in the Angus Glens.
It offers mixed weeks of sporting including walked-up and driven grouse, stalking, salmon and trout fishing, as well as driven pheasant and partridge shooting, rough days, duck flighting and rabbiting. It is a place for the true sportsman and also offers the chance of a MacNab.
Available on a fully-catered or self-catered basis, this beautiful house can be rented separately from the sporting activities for long weekends or for walking and golfing holidays. There are two Munros in Glen Clova and quite a number of others nearby. Golf is available at Carnoustie (40 minutes’ drive) or St Andrews (1 hour drive). East coast beaches, such as lovely Lunan Bay, are only 40 minutes away.
Rottal Lodge is a wonderful property and offers fantastic mixed sporting weeks including walked-up grouse, stalking, mixed walked-up and driven shooting, salmon and trout fishing.
Rottal Lodge sleeps up to 18 people with 5 doubles, 3 twins and 2 singles rooms. The property also has 8 bathrooms, a large kitchen, dining room, drawing room, TV room, sitting room, gun room and utility room. So there’s plenty of space to relax. In addition, there is a four bedroom farmhouse and a one bedroom Bothy that can also be rented.
Rottal Estate is run traditionally which means they do all their fishing, shooting and stalking in-hand to ensure we protect the delicate Highland ecosystem. This provides visitors with some unique sporting activities.
If you are interesting in some fishing during your stay, you can experience the rush of Salmon fishing along 3.5 miles of the South Esk river or enjoy a more peaceful pace at the trout loch stocked with both brown and rainbow trout. You’ll also find wild brown trout fishing at Loch Wharral – a 40 acre loch situated about 2000 ft above sea level with bothy.
The estate is home to a variety of wildlife including Duck (Mallard and Teal), Partridge, Pheasant, Grouse, Rabbit, Woodcock and Snipe; which makes it an ideal location for shooting. Planned and guided shooting days can be arranged to try help you find exactly what you are looking for, or take you out on rough days to experience a bit of it all.
Finally, tailored stalking experiences can be provided for visitors. The estate is home to Red Deer who roam across our varied and rugged terrain, making the stalking experience a unique day out in stunning surroundings.

Surrounded by 8,000 acres of wild Scottish countryside, the estate is the perfect location for a retreat if you enjoy outdoor activities.
Take a walk through the rolling hills of Glen Clova to enjoy some spectacular views and explore the varied wildlife. We have over 100 different species of bird either breeding or visiting the estate include Lapwing, Curlew, Golden Plover, Whimbrel, Greenshank, Redshank, Ring Ouzel, Golden Eagle, Osprey, Merlin, Red Kite and Peregrine. In addition we have Red Squirrels, Pine Martens, Otters, and you may even spot the occasional Wild Cat.
Our terrain ranges from 800 to 3,000ft above sea level so if you are looking for a challenging hike we can advise you on the best routes available.
