Imagine approaching a Highland Lodge by a private gated entrance and drive which is located in a secluded, idyllic setting overlooking its own loch and the hills beyond. The views are spectacular and guests can watch deer grazing both around the lodge and on the hills, which also support a population of wild goats.
During the rut, in late September and through into October, imagine the sound of roaring stags ringing out across the loch to the Highland Lodge. There is an abundance of wildlife including golden eagles and other birds of prey as well as rare species such as the Slavonian Grebe. Otter can be seen at many of the lochs as well as heron and other birdlife. The pole cat, pine marten, red squirrel and others are regularly in evidence.
Surrounding area: A Highland lodge is an ideal property for a Highland escape with so much to do and see in and around the area.
Fort Augustus, situated at the west end of Loch Ness, is a vibrant little village. Boats travelling down the Caledonia canal into Loch Ness, or to the west coast, pass through the lock gates in Fort Augustus, which is always a nice sight to see.
The west coast is very accessible with the Isle of Skye and Fort William close by to a Highland Lodge location. Applecross, the Torridan Range, and the charming fishing village of Plockton are also within easy reach for planning a day out.
Close by to the north are the Falls of Foyers and further on Culloden, Cawdor Castle, Brodie Castle, and other historic sites.
Escape to a Highland Lodge and enjoy your very own house party in a wonderful location.
