Conichan is a charming 300-year-old farmhouse nestling in the Sma’ Glen at the centre of the 6,500 acre West Glenalmond Estate.
Perched off a dirt track, three and a half miles from a main road, and surrounded by heather-clad hills, it is the perfect antidote to the stress of modern living. In the evenings deer come down from the hills to the fence surrounding the house.
Virtually every piece of furniture in the house was recovered from buildings on the estate. An antique dresser in the drawing room once housed chicken feed, while twin headboards with a barley twist detail were salvaged in bits from different sheds! The claw-foot bath was retrieved from a field, where it made an ideal drinking trough for cows.
The house has been completely renovated and redecorated to a high standard with underfloor heating, power shower, and an oil fired Aga with gas and electric Aga module attached.
The house has the benefit of flagstone floors throughout on the ground floor, a large kitchen/dining room with Aga and a large drawing room.
The main body of the house has a double-height drawing room. This vast space, with its neck-craning ceiling, is filled with eye-catching pieces. The main bedrooms lead off two symmetrical staircases at either end of the drawing room.
Upstairs, the master bedroom is a tranquil haven with views across the Chultrain hills. This room also has a large en-suite, complete with roll-top bath and his and hers sinks.
There are a further two bedrooms on the first floor at the far end of the house, and two further bedrooms downstairs.
A maximum of 2 well behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. They must be kept on the downstairs area only and are not allowed on the furniture. Please note there are no kennels available.

Conichan is a delightful farmhouse offering lovely accommodation and in a superb setting on the West Glenalmond Estate.
We had the most wonderful break at Conichan: the landscape is glorious and the house was cosy and generously equipped. It was perfect. Not for a long while have been to somewhere so restful – four days there was like a week anywhere else. The house is beautifully and generously equipped and felt extremely homely. I would not hesitate to go back as soon as possible. Funnily enough, our three boys (16, 15 and 13) were also perfectly happy, whether walking, reading, playing football or dancing round the fire pit. A truly blissful few days – we were sad indeed to turn the car towards home and work / school… We have already recommended it to family and friends and we are also hoping to return. We had such a fantastic family holiday at Conichan - it was everthing we wanted! Thanks for all of your help in organising it - it really was just brilliant! Everyone loved the property and felt really homely straight away! We all loved the area and will definately be returning!
Conichan was lovely and we all enjoyed our stay there. In fact we left heavy hearted! Its remoteness, warmth and comfortable accommodation was a treat - the hot water bottles and woolly bedsocks we filled our cars with were absolutely not required!! Many thanks for all your help Dorcas, we really did have a super time.
We had a lovely stay at Conichan and were very happy with the house. It was very comfortable and was perfect for our family get together. We would certainly recommend it. The children particularly loved the outside fire. Many thanks for suggesting it to me and I will certainly be in touch once we have an opportunity for us all to get together again.
