The Alvie Estate is a traditional Highland Estate located 4 miles south of Aviemore near the village of Kincraig in Badenoch, the geographic centre of Scotland.
Alvie House is an Edwardian Style Shooting Lodge dating back to the mid nineteenth century and has a long tradition of being a family home and a location for wonderful house parties, family gatherings and weddings.
Alvie offers flexible accommodation, where each part of the house can be rented separately, or as a whole (35 in total). The main house (sleeps 17) and is available on a fully catered basis only. Dinner is served at a pre-arranged time to suit the day’s activities. The excellent cuisine, using seasonal local produce whenever possible, includes salmon, trout, venison, lamb, shorthorn beef and grouse from the Estate.
A warm welcome awaits at this charming property. Guests can enjoy the style of years gone by when there was time for field sports, leisurely conversations, reading books in comfortable armchairs and strolls around the gardens and Estate.
The house faces south with views across a small loch and native pine woodland to the Cairngorm Mountains beyond. Alvie House is the hub of the 13,000 acre Alvie and Dalraddy Estates, home to five generations of the Williamson family.
The light spacious rooms are filled with period furniture and family portraits. Reception rooms include a drawing room, library, dining-room and billiard room with a full sized billiard table.
Alvie House provides fully catered accommodation and is the perfect venue for family groups, sporting holidays, weddings and corporate functions.
For larger groups there are additional 5 twin bedrooms with shared bathroom facilities on the top floor (sleeping 10) plus one double, one twin bedroom and 2 single bedrooms in North Wing with shared bathrooms (sleeping 8). These properties are available to rent separately on a self-catered basis.
A wonderfully relaxing house surrounded by the breathtaking mountain scenery of the Cairngorm National Park and very accessible as it’s an hour from Inverness airport and minutes away from the East Coast main line station at Kingussie.

Stalking is available on the estate for red and roe deer. Walked up and driven grouse shooting. Fishing (boat/bank) on Loch Insh, Loch Beag and Loch Alvie. River fishing for salmon and trout on the Spey and Feshie rivers
There is wide choice of outdoor activities that can be organised on the estate – quad biking, zip wire park, horse riding, stag feeding and stag photography, gorge walking, archery, cookery demos, paintball, bushcraft, estate tours and fishing.
Golf is available close by at Kingussie, Boat of Garten, Carrbridge, Spey Valley or a little futher afield at Castle Stuart.
Wildlife is abundant in the area – the Highland Wildlife Park is close by, a bird reserve at Loch Insh and the Osprey hide at Boat of Garten.
