Built in the style of a grand traditional Scottish Laird’s country house, this is a modern eco house with the luxury for today’s holiday expectations. Its “green” credentials include geothermal pipes in the ground to extract heat to provide hot water and under-floor heating, as well as its own private borehole providing pure mineral water. The property includes a flatscreen TV in each bedroom, a games room, a hot tub and a heated outdoor courtyard swimming pool.
On reaching the house, access via a steep private road of about a mile long, the views over Auchterarder and Gleneagles are stunning. On entering, there is a dining room which seats up to 18 people, large drawing room, even larger kitchen with dining area and living space, utility room, games room with snooker table and shower room. The accommodation is all upstairs on two floors and includes a master double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, three double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, one double bedroom, two twin bedrooms, one bunk bedroom for four children and two bathrooms.
Should you wish to have additional guests stay, situated at the back of the West Wing at Alexander House, the Annexe has its own front door, up some (steep!) steps into the first floor living area, and 2nd floor sleeping areas. The Annexe is only bookable with the main house for an extra 4 guests.
There are also 2 beautiful yurts and a cabin on wheels in the grounds sleeping a further 8 guests bringing the total capacity up to 30!
The house is situated between Perth and Stirling (and only an hour’s drive from either Edinburgh or Glasgow). Stirling is well known for the imposing Stirling Castle that sits above the town, as well as the Wallace Monument. There is excellent hill walking on the Ochill Hills or there is the more mountainous range Ben Lawers, one of the highest in Scotland, which is a haven to ramblers. The breathtaking landscape and calming atmosphere is what this area is known for, but for the more adventurous visitor, mountaineering, climbing and off-road biking also prove popular.
The world famous Gleneagles Hotel and resort is nearby, with its famous golf courses, as well as horse riding, falconry, shooting school, restaurants, quad biking, fishing and clay-pigeon shooting which are all also available here or elsewhere.
Alexander House is fabulously located and within easy reach of Stirling, Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

A really good 4×4 advised in summer, necessary in winter (Toyota Landcruiser, Landrover Discovery/Range Rover or similar). The driveway is snowploughed when it snows but is steep and bumpy in all weathers as we sit on the edge of the Ochils at 835 feet above sea level, hence our magnificent views across Gleneagles and Strathallan to the Highlands and beyond.
